{UAH} modelling grass growth and intake
To design, develop and evaluate a grass growth model and integrate with a grass intake, grass quality and grazing management decisions support tool.
This is a collaborative project between Teagasc, NUI Maynooth, CIT and Met Eireann. The research work will develop a DSS and test it across a number of scenarios. The DSS will be web based.
Duties & Responsibilities specific to this project:
• Develop and evaluate a model for grass growth and quality and integrate within grass intake, grazing management and milk production models for grass based milk production systems in association with the project team within the available time and financial resources
•Collaborate with the project and other research staff
•Present the research at conferences
•Publish the research in leading international journals
Person Specification
Essential
PhD in development/modelling biological systems
Relevant research experience not to exceed 3 years' post-PhD
Desirable
•Experience in modelling grass growth
•Experience in computer programming

This is a collaborative research project in conjunction with University College Cork, examining consumer insights for new product development (NPD).
Duties & Responsibilities specific to this project:
•Undertake an extensive scientific and marketing review of consumer food trends
•Manage all restructuring of databases and responsible for database repository
•Identify and undertake appropriate statistical data analyses
Person Specification
Essential
PhD in relevant area such consumer behaviour, food marketing, nutrition, social science, social psychology, economics).
Relevant research experience not to exceed 3 years' post-PhD in a food related role.
Desirable
•Experience in a range of statistical software packages.
•Understanding of consumer led new product development.
