{UAH} TO THOSE IN THE GREAT CITY
Friends
Be informed that Hours after members of CUPE 3903 voted on an offer from York university, the workers have voted to strike at midnight tonight. Teaching assistants and contract workers turned down the deal. Over the weekend University of Toronto voted to take a strike and so has York University decided to follow as well. Here is the difference you need to note between the two strikes, University of Toronto is open through the strike, and students are required to make sure they fulfill all requirements of their courses, so you have a responsibility to cross the picket lines and go to class. As far as I know York issued a statement last evening that if a strike takes place, the campus will be shut down. We will know exactly what will happen as the morning breaks but for now, if I was a student of York University I would work on a premise that the campus will not open come Tuesday morning. When you wake up tomorrow morning make calls to find out if there is any change from what I have posted but this is from a very good but reliable source. York as well as UFT are on strike with immediate effect.
Good morning all.
