{UAH} EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR
WBK,
What are your comments on the actions of Adebayor and the extremely
childish manner in which he is handling a family dispute? Tottenham FC
have now given him compassionate leave to deal with his personal
problems following his revelation in Facebook a few days ago that he
is suicidal, has attempted suicide several times and that his won
brothers attempted to murder him. Word is out that Adebayor has kicked
his last ball for Tottenham. His contract in any case expires in a few
months and it will not be renewed. At 31 years of age, whatever next
contract Adebayor signs will be his last one in the top paying
brigade, after 2 years, he will be lucky to even have a club. So why
would a person at such a critical stage in his career behave in such a
self-destructive manner? Why has he chosen to fight a family war in
the social media? Moreover, his dispute with his family is about his
money, they want access to his wealth and to spend it as they wish.
Any mature person would surely deal with this type of challenge. His
family has to accept his help or assistance on his own terms. Under no
circumstance should they feel they have an entitlement and a right to
be maintained or supported by him. Whose fault is it that matters
have got so out of control, with allegations of suicide, attempted
murder, withcraft etc being bandied about. Does the Tottenham FC have
any responsbility? Or his manager? But I suspect the biggest problem
for Adebayor is that he has no formal education. He never completed
primary education and came to Europe at 17 years and soon became a
professional footballer. He has never therefore learnt how to handle
these sort of matters in a mature manner. But again it is a wider
malaise amongs black Africans who seem incapable of maintaining or
capitalising on their comparative advantage. Adebayor has been earning
£100,000 per week and look how sorry he feels for himself. Don't be
surprised if he is on the scrapheap 2 years after retirement from
football. That is when his trouble wil begin. And that is what his
family are praying for.
