{UAH} On This Day 15 Years Ago: Kisangani War

Exactly 15 years ago today, on 5th June 2000,  the UPDF (Uganda Peoples Defence Forces) and the RDF (Rwanda Defence Forces) fought a bloody battle in Kisangani, Congo.
This battle is known as the "Six-day war" by the Congolese.
By the end of the fighting, 1000 civilians were dead, 800 injured, half the city destroyed and the once mighty UPDF, clearly defeated by tiny Rwanda.
The UN Security Council issued Resolution 1604 (link) ten days later (16th June) asking both countries to respect the territorial integrity of a foreign country and withdraw their troops.
Five years later, in 2005, Uganda would be asked to repair prejudices committed by its forces during this and previous invasions.
While marking this event today, Congolese civil society reiterated its stand that those responsible should face criminal justice.
