{UAH} Clarification: Deadline to Register to Vote? ~ Ugandans At Heart (UAH)

Dear UNAA Delegates,

1). Article 3.3.1 of UNAA's constitution provides that "Membership dues paid in a current fiscal year shall be valid for membership for the following fiscal year."

That provision was briefly suspended for a day in order to allow the overwhelming number of members that had paid in 2013 to vote in Dallas. As of today, 3.3.1 is still valid and would need to be suspended by voters that paid in 2014.

Therefore, in my view, it is not technically correct to say that if you pay today, you will automatically qualify to vote. i.e you will only qualify if 2/3 of the members that paid in 2014 vote to allow you.

2). we expect our lawsuit to be determined by the end of this month. If we win, the 2010 Constitution will be declared invalid and the Election Commission as well as the the Council will go away.

In addition, we may have to go back to old constitution where anyone that pays for the convention will be a member.

Deadline to Register to Vote

Dear UNAA Delegates,

Please be reminded that the 2015 UNAA General Elections for the UNAA Executive Committee members and UNAA Council of Representatives will be held Sunday, September 6th 2015 at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans Hotel.

The constitutional deadline to register to vote (become a member) of August 7th 2015. Thirty (30) days before the election.

Membership fee is $50 for the first time, and $20 every year to renew. If one misses a year without renewing, they will have to pay $50.

In addition, one must be above 18 years of age, and a residing in North America; or a citizen/legal resident of one of the countries in North America residing anywhere.
