SV: SV: {UAH} Historicals now backing JPAM???
Simon,
I am more worried about our politicians constant refference to their support base in the NRM.
Why do they all keep on asserting: " I HAVESUPPORT IN THE NRM", i HAVE HUGE SUPPORT IN THE NRM
" I HAVE MAJORITY SUPPORT IN THE NRM" blah bla bläää? WHAT MESSAGES ARE THEY CONVEYING TO
THE PEOPLE OF UGANDA? Why this constant refference to the NRM?
This is a nation election not an NRM election. SO, UGANDAN SHOULD FEAR THE NRM? So, he who does not have support in the NRM is not
eligible?
Those who claim huge support in the NRM, why don't they just leave the NRM and we see who follows out along with them?
To me the claim is a propaganda bluff. They just can't do it solo. If they did, they would have started their own parties
to which their asserted supporters in the NRM flocked.

Nockrach,
I have the feeling that JPAM has strengths and abilities that NRM fears. On one hand NRM says the guy is weak, has no support and not a threat but on the other, it is NRM that comes out first to attack the "weak" person for instance when he wanted to contest as an NRM, they quickly crafted rules that in their opinion would curtail the man if he accepted to pick their NRM forms. Now that the man has decided to go independent, they are again coming with another attempt to block him claiming that because he is still an NRM, he cannot contest as an independent; but the man refused to pick NRM nomination forms which contain a clause that whoever loses in the primaries is barred from contesting as an independent.
People like my friend WBK who are quick at dismissing JPAM should ask themselves why NRM comes with all such attempts at stopping the man from contesting; I don't think one serious and strong person can waste time on a weakling, unless such a person is a sadist that enjoys torturing weaklings.
If JPAM is weak with no support, just leave the man fail miserably as you believe. This JPAM seems to be more than what NRM tells us, they have the real thing they fear which they are not telling us, or was he the brain behind President Musveni's previous successes?.

Mr WBK,
I have this awful feelings that it is the people of Uganda being taken for a ride by many of our
unscruplous political fraternities. Seems like some are betting on time and mother nature only for them to turn aroundand claim
credits and fame.
I don't know but, it imagine protection of de facto elite status from in marching order is writen all over.
Everybody is pronouncing huge support in the NRM / UPDF, WHY?
I do not think any can burn the bridge with the NRM because they can not do it solo!!
Most people don't pierce their own eyes, yet!

When Mr Kibaki resigned from KANU in 1992 to form his party, he quit being a life member of KANU, of which he was one of the first, if not the first executive officer. So tell JPAM to resign from NRM kabisa and send in his membership card. Once he does that he will be free from NRM discipline.
So tell him he cannot have his cake and eat it too. Granted with postmodernism in vogue, anything is possible, but JPAM is either an independent or not period. If he were smart enough, he would quit pretending he still has a future in NRM. That future is DEAD as DODO. Why is he slow to grasp simple matters?
With or without YKM, JPAM is done from NRM. If he fails to resign with some dignity, NRM may opt to expel him. Thus, the only outcome JPAM controls is resigning with some dignity from NRM. Let him look at Mr. Lowassa and others defecting from CCM, they hand in their CCM membership cards. And in any case a membership card belong to the party, which it can recall, suspend or cancel it and tell Ugandans in some public ad.
But I guess JPAM prefers to be expelled hoping it can win him some sympathy votes. I am afraid there are no sympathy votes for him. In Kampala lingo Kiwedde

Unbelievable and improbable as it may sound, NRM historicals starting with Maj Gen Matayo Kyaligonza have vowed to support Amama Mbabazi to stand against President Yoweri Museveni come 2016 general elections.
The NRM vice chairperson for western Uganda says he will not support a plot by the NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC) to block Mbabazi from standing on account that he is still a member of the ruling party and yet running on an independent ticket.
Adolf Mwesige, the head of the NRM legal team says much as Mbabazi has already picked nomination forms to contest as an independent presidential candidate he is still bound by the NRM party constitution as a member.
Mbabazi picked nomination forms on Monday and is scheduled to embark on a countrywide consultation tour and collect signatures from two-thirds of the districts as required by law.
According to Mwesige, the NRM constitution bars Mbabazi from contesting as independent since he is a registered member of the ruling party.
Historicals weigh in, support Amama
Kyaligonza says the former Secretary General should be allowed to do as he wishes.
He said when the motion to block Amama comes to the CEC, he will not support it.
"The moment you start using the law for your own interests, then it will be misused," Kyaligonza told Daily Monitor, adding, "Let everybody who can try. Museveni has contenders in the opposition, why not allow Mbabazi too?"
Another NRM historical and Justice and Constitutional Affairs minister, Maj Gen Kahinda Otafiire, said Mbabazi has a constitutional right to stand as an independent.
"Mbabazi has a democratic right to go independent. He would have run under NRM, but he chose not to."
What is going wrong?
On leave from his ambassadorial duties in Burundi, Kyaligonza said the current push to retire the old guards in the party will be more meaningful if Museveni's situation is also brought into perspective.
"Since you the youth are telling us to [retire] because of our age, I don't know what would now happen to the chairman [Yoweri Museveni]," Kyaligonza is quoted telling The Observer.
This came after Museveni unleashed his son in-law, Odrek Rwabwogo, to challenge and take Kyaligonza's seat.
Speaking in response to the "betrayal", another historical and Luweero NRM District Chairperson, Hajji Abdul Nadduli, faulted Museveni, for sending a "boy" to fight an NRM historical.
Nadduli asked Museveni to prevail on his son-in-law to drop interest in Kyaligonza's seat because it creates an impression that he is trying to create a family political dynasty.
To the contrary, the "boy" has even held a fundraising at a private residence that raised over Shs 400m to fight Kyaligonza.
On the other hand, Otafiire who has been busy fighting and de-campaigning Mbabazi now backing him to stand as an independent is something yet to be comprehended.
As for Kyaligonza, he is the man who hurled "kumanyoko" insults at Mbabazi's wife, Jacqueline, during a CEC meeting and said he would have had them in jail had he been the president.
Now a betrayal by his boss, has opened his eyes and sent him into Mbabazi's good books.
Museveni's back up
The president is not to be surprised by his old guard yet.
We are told his faith now lies in new recruits; Kasule Lumumba who replaced Amama as Secretary General and her deputy Richard Todwong and Rose Namayanja, the NRM national treasurer.
Namayanja was on record saying Amama should be curtailed because "Mbabazi said independents are not only independent of any party but also themselves".
Lumumba on the other hand, says "Kyaligonza can only persuade Rwabwogo to stand down but cannot force it against his political will."
While the historicals are ready to turn against Museveni over sanctioning Amama for standing as an independent candidate, the new recruits will do their boss's bidding.
Nonetheless, critics agree that this sudden change of heart by historicals will see the end of Museveni reign.
