Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) is set to carry out an operation to evict night street vendors.
KCCA's deputy spokesperson, Robert Kalumba said the operation begins next week.
Kalumba added that the operation follows several complaints from pedestrians about the inconvenience caused by the vendors to people who use the roads at night.
He said the operation will start from clock tower along Entebbe road, William Street and Arua Park.
Some of these areas like Arua Park are famously known for vending cooked food at night and other merchandize every evening when people are returning home.
The operation will also be extended to areas of Kalerwe, Kamwokya and Bwaise among others.
KCCA also blames night vendors for the rampant road accidents and crimes in the city. Kalumba said the move is aimed at decongesting the city and easing traffic flow.
KCCA evicted at least 7,000 vendors from the city streets in a move to clean up the city and pave way for further developments.
However, KCCA together with the Ministry of Works and Transport agreed to revise the decision and resolved to seal off from Barclays Bank along Kampala Road to Luwuum Street for vendors to sale off their merchandise every Sunday.
