Controversial businessman DJ Sbu, real name Sibusiso Leope, donated three head of cattle to Swazi King Mswati III as apology for the negative statements he made about the monarch in 2011, according to a report.

According to Times of Swaziland, this was a way of apologising for his lead role in the 2011 cultural boycott which resulted in some top South African artists refusing to perform in the country.

DJ Sbu, however, was in Swaziland last weekend where he is hoping to launch his controversial energy drink MoFaya. He said he needed to meet the King to get his blessing before the launch next month.

Speaking to Daily Sun on Friday, DJ Sbu would neither confirm nor deny that he handed cows over to the king – although deputy chief officer and private secretary to King Mswati III, Mbongeni Simelani, confirmed that DJ Sbu has indeed given the king three cows.

"Yes, he did. This was his form of apology for the negative statement he made in 2011," said Simelani.

"But this I know, UPC believed and still believes in very high education. We can call Obote all bad names we have, but the bottom line remains that he got more scholarships for Buganda than all previous Uganda leaders combined. That includes Sir Edward Mutesa, President Lule, President Binayisa, up to and into Ssabasajja Mutebi. Who all happen to be Baganda leaders." Mulindwa
