A Burlington County person has been charged and $225,000 in heroin has been seized following an investigation conducted by the Mercer County Narcotics Task Force in conjunction with the United States Postal Service and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Acting Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri said on Monday.

Ikenna Nwafor, 36, of Bordentown, was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with the intent to distribute and possession with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a park.

On Friday afternoon at about 2:54 p.m., two parcels were delivered to 78 Passaic Street in Trenton, Onofri said.

One of the parcels was from an address in Uganda and allegedly contained 450 grams of heroin concealed in auto parts.Nwafor allegedly accepted the parcels. Nwafor then allegedly put one of the parcels in the residence, using a key to unlock the front door. After putting the package inside, he allegedly walked away.

Officers detained Nwafor while search warrants for the residence were executed. The parcels were allegedly located inside the residence, next to the front door, and secured.

The residence was allegedly vacant and contained no furniture

His bail was set at $200,000 cash or bond with the condition of a source hearing.

Onofri thanked the following agencies for their assistance in the investigation: the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office Special Investigation Unit, the Mercer County Sheriff's Office, the U.S. Postal Service, HIS, the New Jersey State Police, and the Hamilton, Lawrence and Trenton police departments.
