{UAH} Maj. Gen. David Oyite Ojok (R.I.P) lost his life in the Luweero war tour of duty on Saturday,
Maj. Gen. David Oyite Ojok (R.I.P) lost his life in the Luweero war tour of duty on Saturday, the 2nd day of December 1983, after their chopper went down at Kasozi village, located in Nakasongola, Buluuli County. Kasozi, Nakasongola is located north of Luweero district in Bulemeezi County. The late David Oyite Ojok was a Langi man by tribe from Lango region, located in the Northern part of Uganda, but died inside Ganda lands. The use of the term "Ganda lands" include the concept of territories which at the passing of Uganda Independence Act, 1962 [UIA], were comprised in the Kingdom of Buganda, excluding the counties of Buyagga and Buganganzi.

This post was not raised to accuse or condemn Oyite, because he is a deceased person, who is not there, but to learn something from history and certain past mistakes. In Luganda there is an old adage that "omuffu tanenyezebwa" meaning that it is unreasonable accuse a deceased person of wrong doing, because he is not there to hear or rebut your accusations. In otherwords, "omuffu tanenyezebwa" encourages people to refrain from accusing or suing the dead. You cannot bring legal proceedings against Oyite Ojok but other participants or major players in the Luweero war e.g Government of Uganda, or NRA, can be sued in courts of law, because Gen. David Oyite Ojok, was acting in the service of the Government of Uganda at the relevant time when he died.
Hundreds of Ganda families have their relatives buried in Nakasongola, as their ancestral burial grounds, for over a century. For example,Haji Kangave of Kansanga, the former owner of lands now M7's kisozi farm was buried him in his ancestral grounds in Nakasongola, Buluuli County.
Haji Musa Sebirumbi the former UPC Chairman of Luweero was convicted of murder and sentenced to death. He was sent to the gallows for murdering the late Edidian Luttamaguzi on suspicion of condoning and supporting NRA rebel activities. You must understand why Museveni signed to hang the late Haji Musa Sebirumbi while on death row at Luzira prison. They beat and beat Luttamaguzi while asking him where is Museveni? Why are you hiding Museveni? And Museveni was hiding not far away while listening in to what was going on, until they eventually him. Museveni did not sign for Chris former state minister of security, who was also convicted or murder and was on death row - he later pardoned and released him, despite protests from the crime victims.
Gen. David Oyite Ojok was replaced by the late Brigadier Smith Opon Acak (R.I.P), as the new army boss, who was also a Langi man by tribe from Lango region. The unfortunate incident of 02 December 1983, was followed by several NRA guerilla ambushes against Govt troops and hitting of some Tata military trucks, prompted more UNLA/Govt military deployments and reinforcements.
