{UAH} MAAMA FIINA IS A BIG FISH WE SHOULDN'T LOOSE
Despite the fact that reconciliation and unity in the Uganda Muslim
Community is still a remote dream, 2015 ends with harvesting a big
fish like Maama Fiia, now wife to Maj. Muhammad Kiggundu.
Despite the controversy over hear leadership of Uganda healers and
herbalists, the lady took Shahada, like any other Muslim convert.
Healing and her-baling are different. Healing is spiritual and her
baling is cultural.
However that does not mean that if Maama Fiina is only a herbalist,
her organisation will fall short of healers.
A n organisation is a mixed grill of traditionalists, Muslims,
Christians etc.. and a leader does not denounce all of them but just
persuades them.
History has it that the Quraish, Prophet Muhammad's tribe, were
polytheists, but they changed gradually.
We should also remember that the first religion or belief in or
worship the Living God, in human civilization, was in ancient Egypt
which was Black. That was before Persians, Jews, Arabs did so.
Egypt was also the first state, in the days of Pharaoh.
No wonder agriculture, housing and reading and writing , all started in Egypt.
So it is not surprising that before the advent of Islam or
Christianity, Tropical Africans in the Great Lakes Region, knew about
God, with kiganda names like Mukama, Katonda, Sewannaku, Bugingo,
Namugereka, with a shrine at Butonda at Namakwa in Kyaggwe. in
Runyakitara it was Ruhanga and among the Luo, Lubanga.
Although Maama Fiina is married to a sheikh, Ullamae should ensure
that she never slips away. Have we followed tycoon Majambere when he
converted in mid 1990s, thanks to the late Haji SulaIman Kiggundu. It
may have been to do with genocide in Rwanda where Muslim, both Hutu
and Tutsi never participated in it and protected one another, unlike
their Christian friends and a section of the clergy.
What about Hon.Salaam Proscovia Musumba, who was a student at Makerere
University, and had converted side by side with her husband, Haji
Isaac Isanga Musumba and he slipped away, due to a poor follow up.
Let's not lose the likes of Maama Fina, as we lost some in the past.
Her organization is a mixture of believers and non believers and she
can not impose her own will to them , just like a President, a
Minister or a Governor or a Councillor can't impose it. But She will
keep our interests the way all these leaders keep interests of their
communities.
We should also thank God to pass through, Sheikh Maj Muhammad
Kiggundu, to convert a big fish and we should pray for more.
Good season.
