{UAH} Museveni Enters Teso in Style
Museveni promised wealth to the people of Katakwi
President Museveni massively entered Teso region on Tuesday as campaigns for the highest political position in the land gain momentum.
Museveni, who is also the National Resistance Movement party flag bearer for the 2016 presidential elections, started his campaigns from Atoroma primary school grounds in Toroma Sub County, Katakwi district.
The president told people of Katakwi who turned up big numbers that the ruling party stands for four critical principles that have kept in power since 1986 such as unity which he said "brings strength in our community."
Museveni continued that it is from strength that the society realizes peace which is prerequisite for any development.
"Out of strength achieved from unity the country is now in total peace. We managed to chase away the Lords Resistance Movement from here because of strength. Also the guns in the hands of Karamojong that were bigger in number than that of Amin's forces were removed because of unity and strength," he noted.
Teso region was also affected by the Joseph Kory's rebellion.
The same region that borders Karamoja suffered the wrath of cattle rustling from the Karamojong warriors who forcefully took away their animals.
Government introduced livestock compensation in Teso, Lango and Acholi regions after the disarmament of Karamojong.
The program is being handled by the Office of the Prime Minister together with the Attorney General's office, according to government officials.
"Unity, peace and strength have automatically led us to another chapter that all of us want. Development is now going on everywhere. I got electricity in Moroto, Adjumani and all the districts. The new and good roads and other good things are coming your way. We are only able to achieve development because of those three earlier things," said the President.
Museveni said his government will now concentrate on wealth creation – a programme that will see households empowered to generate incomes.
"Development is general for us all but there is one remaining thing – wealth. That is what the government now wants everyone to get."
