{UAH} “Tortured” Besigye Aide Passes On

Opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) have Wednesday lost yet another of their strong activists one Hajj Abdu Mutwalibu Kakande.

Hajj Kakande, who has been serving as FDC's Secretary for Security for Makindye District as well as Buziga Parish FDC Chairperson, was also among the party's presidential candidate Kizza Besigye's security team.

Colleagues at FDC described the deceased as "our veteran activist and committed party member."

According to one of Besigye's aide Moses Byamugisha, Kakande has for years been nursing injuries inflicted on him by police after he was arrested during the 2011 protests.

"His health begun deteriorating after being tortured in police cells during the walk to work protests that saw him ending up in Luzira from where he developed complications in his internal organs," he said.
