Mbarara- Police in Mbarara District are investigating circumstances under which a police officer died in a lodge in Mbarara town.

The district officer in charge of criminal investigations, Mr Taban Chiriga, identified the deceased as Hassan Kagurukye.

His body was found in (California Lodges) on Mbarara High Street on Tuesday. However, the postmortem report from Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital indicates that Kagurukye, a senior police constable, died after a nerve near the heart raptured due to too much fat.

His body was transported to his home in Bundibugyo District for burial.

Police are now hunting for the deceased's girlfriend who was with him on the night of the incident.
