{UAH} BESIGYE
As an observer, I would like to advise on the confinement that opposition leader Dr. Kizza Besigye is enduring.
No matter how credible and legal the justifications are, they cannot cleanse the fact that openly detaining a person who is naturally and legally innocent of any crime, is a sign of failure.
I thought I heard that Uganda was undergoing a "fundamental change". So what is all this militarism and "panda gari" (blue police van)?
History shows that no matter how long it takes, nations fall into an abyss of destruction after exclusive leadership ends. If we are thinking long term stability, how comes Uganda is still firmly under state army terror in 2016? Aren't strong democracies made from other independent/professional institutions.
All right-thinking visionaries should discourage todays situation even if they disagree politically with the victim. Silence would actually be preferable rather than justifying the persecution.
As I once said, in this time and era the tendency to create more plausible sounding reasons and excuses that perpetuate such situations is tantamount to breeding and maintaining mediocre politics.
Until when?
It is children who refuse to talk and play together when annoyed.
So why don't we have political leadership that gives precedence to simple dialogue, progressive wisdom and leadership inclusiveness?
Not the inclusiveness where opponents are "bought and just placed somewhere". Today Uganda requires professional, institutionalized political inclusiveness.
Hussein Lumumba Amin.
