*INVITATION TO KNOWLEDGE SEMINAR ON ISLAMIC BANKING AND ISLAMIC INSURANCE*
In light of the recently passed law to establish Islamic Banking in Uganda,
the Contact Group on Islamic Banking and Finance met on Saturday for the *10th
Consultative Forum on Islamic Banking and Finance, at Arch Apartments
Ntinda.*
It was noted that there was/is a shortage of general knowledge on, and
misconceptions about, Islamic Banking and Islamic Insurance (Takaful). As a
practical way forward, it was resolved that the 11th Consultative Forum be
converted into a special knowledge seminar to be held on *Saturday April
16th 2016 at Hotel Africana, 9.00am-1.00pm.*
*The title of the Seminar is: **FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT ISLAMIC
BANKING & PROSPECTS FOR ISLAMIC BANKING AND ISLAMIC INSURANCE IN UGANDA*
*Seminar Agenda: *
*8.30am-9.00am PARTICIPANT REGISTRATION/ADMINISTRATION*
*9.00am - 10.30am FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT ISLAMIC BANKING*
*10.30am -11.00am Break Tea [Catered for from Seminar Registration

*11.00am -1.00pm PROSPECTS FOR ISLAMIC BANKING AND INSURANCE IN
UGANDA*
*Resources:* It will be delivered by a lead Resource Person, Mr. Sadat
Kisuyi of the Islamic University in Uganda and will be assisted by an
expert panel led by Mr. Ahmed Abdullah of Al Huda CIBE. The material
delivered will be e-mailed to each participant at the end of the seminar.
Each participant will also be automatically added to the *CG-IBF WhatsApp
group.*
*Target group: *Muslims and non-Muslims interested in understanding what
Islamic banking is all about, Members of the Contact Group on Islamic
Banking and Finance, (CG-IBF), Banking Fraternity, Insurance Fraternity,
Investors, SACCO administrators and members, Business persons and
Entrepreneurs, Civil Society organizations engaged in social economic
development, poverty eradication, women and youth empowerment, Academics,
*Booking: *Booking will be done on line by filling out the attached
Seminar Registration form and returning it to the addresses indicated.
*Post Seminar Activities: *In the last week of April 2016, The Contact
Group on Islamic Banking and Finance has organized a 3-day guided study
tour of Kenya Islamic Banks and Islamic Insurance service providers.
Participants in this seminar, (if not yet registered) will receive priority
as there are limited vacancies.
*Fast track (expression of interest)*: You can also book your place for the
seminar by responding to this email expressing interest to attend. However,
registration will be complete only with a duly filled registration form and
remittance of the appropriate registration fee.
