{UAH} Grand Imam slams terrorism

The Grand Imam of Al Azhar Mosque in Cairo (Egypt), Prof. Dr. Sheikh Ahmad Muhamma Al-Tayyib, has said Islam prohibits attack on any human being whatever their religion.

He denounced terrorists as misguided self-seekers and called for concerted efforts in training Mulsim leaders and the local imams as a tool against terrorism. He decried the senseless acts of beheading, bombings and explosions committed by the terrorists as savage crime and a plot to damage Islam.

Sheikh Al-Tayyib was meeting over 40 media managers and editors from 23 African countries in Cairo.

NB:

This admonition is the first i have heard from a high-ranking cleric in that same form. Although he didn't expressly name practicing members of his religion as being engaged in practices he condemned, it may go without saying and worryingly, he may be exposed to victimization because of his humane outspokenness.
