{UAH} HOMELESSNESS

I listened to this moving programme on the BBC World Servive this morning and was surprised it is a Canadian psychiatrist who started with a very simple plan to end city homelessness with new ideas that challenged pre-existing orthodoxy. He apparently succeeded in ending street homelessness in one Canadian city, and his ideas have now been copied world-wide. Do you know more about this psychiatrist, and if so, has his ideas been copied in other Canadian cities where there is still street homelessness? One of the greatest projects I ever headed in the UK was a STREET HOMELLESSNESS PROJECT in inner London, and our task was to remove all street homeless people from three areas in London which they had colonised.. This was in 1989. That experience made me discover how effective and how ruthless I am as a manager of projects that require a lot of compassion. I am interested to know how the Canadian psychiatrist went about his task.
