{UAH} Hon. Tumwebaze should correct a factual error in his press statement of 9th May

Dear members, in his Press Statement dated May 9th 2016 over the forth coming swearing in and inauguration ceremony of H.E President Museveni on May 12th 2016, Hon Frank Tumwebaze, the minister for Presidency, made a factual error on elections in Uganda which needs to be corrected.

In the sixth paragraph, he indicates that this (2016 elections), is the 5th presidential election held in Uganda through Universal adult suffrage. He goes ahead to mention them starting from 1996. To the best of my memory, the 1980 elections were held through Universal adult suffrage and it would be good to include them too. I want to believe that the Minister and his assistants just forgot this part of our history.

It is always very important to ensure that our history is quoted rightly and; where there is documented evidence, as accurately as it should be, at least for the sake of our young generation.
