{UAH} Shocking and Sad Story!!
Shocking and Sad Story!!
I have just met a friend of mine Dr.#Vicent Karuhanga of Friends Polly Clinic at Uganda House who normally features on KFM 93.3 as K-Doctor Saturday 8am -9am,whose story I would like to share.
He went to a massage parlour and during the process he developed a knee swelling (Ganglionon cysts)around his leg.
He started feeling pain for 2 days the went to Mulago hospital, the Doctor examined him and as usual referred him to a private clinic indicating he had to pay 4.6 Million at Platinum Clinic yet he had gone to National Refferal Hospital.
On reaching Platinum Clinic he was told he had to see a surgeon who gave him pain killers. But needed to do a scan which was to done and the said he needed an operation this was to be done after a week.
The pain had increased being unable to contain it and with back and forth never ending consultations he went to India for further treatment but it was too late for him,the damage was spreading to others parts of the body especially the kidney.
Doctors in India had to cut off his leg but wondered what kind medical professionals do we have in Uganda who couldn't diagnose his condition when it was early.
Mine friend is now using clutches but I could see the stress he is going through.
Mulago is now being run by medical students because the current director has made it mandatory for all doctors who are now in their 60s to retire leaving inexperienced and money hungry doctors to run the hospital but prefer to direct Ugandans to privately owned clinics.
When he is narrating to you this story, you feel his pain and just know where this country is headed.
That's sad state of affairs in this country.
