July 10, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —– South Sudan's President Salva Kiir Mayardit has lost control of the national army, SPLA, according to the military reports.
In addition to sporadic fighting at Jebel, another fighting began near the Juba International Airport and at the army headquarters, Bilpham. No SPLA-IO forces initially occupied this area, however, some alleged that it could be a new defection.
Reports emerging from the SPLA headquarters, Bilpham, echoed that the army on Kiir's side has divided into two more factions, one loyal to president Salva Kiir and another loyal to different general believed to be the Chief of Staff of SPLA(Juba), Gen. Paul Malong Awan.
It is feared that the new faction is fighting to establish a new leadership, different from that of Kiir and Machar, a report that is yet to be independently verified.
Others believe that the new defection are disgruntled soldiers who now joined the SPLA in opposition to topple Salva Kiir's leadership.
The Chief of army, Paul Malong, recently returned from Kampala on a private mission.
His appearance on the presidency meeting on Friday was blamed on social media as the triger to the fighting at the presidential house where Machar, Kiir and Wani Igga were holding a press conference.
Contrary to presient Kiir's recent briefings, the two leaders, Mr. Kiir and Machar, agreed to contain their forces to prevent further escalation, however, Kiir's forces attacked Marach's headquarters at Jebel, a sign that the groups are fighting at Jebel and JIA could be loyal to someone else.
The attacks on Jebel were repulsed several times but SPLA-IO did not pursue the SPLA (Juba) over the "no-man" buffer zone between the two forces.
Within the last one hour, sporadic fighting have continued at Jebel as the SPLA-Juba forces persist on fighting on.
Smoke has since emerged at the Jebel site. No one knows what exactly is burning.
