Harriet Nakamya the Kanungu Resident District Commissioner has come out and physically apologized for interfering in last the year's ruling National Resistance Movement party primary elections where candidates she favored but lost were instead announced as winners.

In November last year during the Kanungu NRM primary elections, losers were announced as winners who included Jacqueline Kyatuheire for Kinkiizi West MP, Ruth Karungi for district woman MP,Godie Willy Bakiga for LC 5 and Deus Tugume for Kihihi town council chairman.

It took the intervention of Josephine Kasya and others who reported the matter to president Museveni who also  sent a verification team headed by the NRM vice chairman Al Haj Moses Kigongo before rightful winners was eventually announced as NRM flag bearers in different areas
