{UAH} Crane Bank Collapse- Implications

Journalist Ahmed Kateregga

The collapse of Crane Bank is not what you will be talking about on whatever TV and youth that will be accompanying you. The reason being that you simply do not know or understand the structure of corruption, mafia cobweb, and banking finance in Uganda!

I am not belittling you but please reread your message and tell us if it has any content in it?!

Have you asked yourself some questions regarding that bank?:

a.      Why was the bank undercapitalized?

b.      Did the bank have prudent auditors and what did they know?

c.       Was the collapse a work of insider lending?

d.      Why did Sudhir choose principally Uganda Asians to manage and run the bank?

e.      When Crane bank took over International Bank of Commerce did Bank of Uganda know its financial status?

f.        Has the financial inspection body done its work? etc

In some civilized countries if you make a third biggest Bank in a nation collapse under your feet – you'll be imprisoned for years. You are making many people lose their livelihood and that is not a joke. It is more than murder!

When the struggle against corruption intensifies - the shadowy economy is floored right flat face down. Crane bank is a causality of the greatest corruption this country has witnessed for decades!

No one, virtually none will be left untouched!

The government has now to get up and run – to prop up the real economy in the construction sector to start with. I hope I am not off with Urban Planning since the real economy resides there!
