{UAH} WHO WILL WIN THE WAR
WHO IS WINNING THE WAR?
Brother Serugo, no wonder some of our leaders in the External Wing,
never featured at all in Nairobi peace talks in 1985 and were not in
the original NRM Interim Cabinet headed by the then Chief
Administrator Al Haji Moses Kigongo at Kasese in 1985, neither were
they among the 38 Historical members of NRC that voted Yoweri Museveni
President in Lubiri barracks immediately after the liberation of
Kampala.
Look whether they were in the original 1986 cabinet.
But YK Museveni was magnanimous and fixed them somewhere.
Uganda bwetyo mwattu!
In 1985, NRM Interim Chairperson had issued a statement, "Who is
winning the war?" It was a direct attack on some of the non performers
in external wing who later became super ministers.
EXCETIONAL ROLE OF NDUGU RUGUNDA
By the way, some of the External Committee Members were very hard
working, courageous and risked their lives, according to the fighters.
One of them is Ndugu Ruhakana Rugunda who was working with Kenyatta
Hospital in Nairobi. According to Janeti Rutaboba, working with
Defence Ministry, Rugunda used to hold meetings at his residence that
mapped up the strategy, and had internal and external contacts.
At one time, Rugunda entrusted Rutaboba with "Resistance News" which
were updates of the struggle to bring them to Uganda for distribution
to supporters. She was arrested at Busia by a NASA operative under
Chris Rwakasisi, but was saved by a senior operative, who was a double
agent and ordered her to park up and return to her place of
embarkation.
COHESION AMONG NRA COMBATANTS
There was cohesion within the internal wing. Even people like Gen.
David Sejusa and Dr. Kizza Besigye can hide anywhere like in
Maj.Gen.Jim Muhwezi or Maj.Gen. Kahinda Otafiire's as fraternal seeing
some of the External Committee people as traitors
--BESIGYE , MBABAZI CLASH
l remember a clash between two members of NRC Dr. Kizza Besigye and a
Presidential nominee Amama Mbabazi. Besigye had to remind Mbabazi that
he was a Historical although Mbabazi was State Minister for Defence,
he was a presidential nominee. That was in 1996.
