{UAH} THE WORD La in FRENCH AND ACHOLI .
Little things sometimes reveal alot. I have been wondering why the word or article "La", is used in Acholi as a prefix to denote something of a lesser value as in la kodi, or la bwolo. In Luganda an equivalent would be ka, as in Ka-nyolo. In french however, it denotes feminine object as opposed to the "Le" which denotes masculine object. I wonder if there was any interaction somewhere in the past to have led to this common meaning?
A few months ago i pointed out that the expression aura in Luo/ Acholi can mean scent or marvel. In English the word aura, probably adopted from Latin or Italian is used to denote something similar.
I just wonder how much simple things are around us that we take for granted, yet within, there lies solution to today's enigma, yet another Acholi word (eniba OR eno dong ba) to mean puzzle or a conundrum.
