Weak American government could learn a lesson or two about elections from Uganda

The elections for the 45th President of the United States have left Ugandans in a state of confusion. And no, the confusion is not about those electoral colleges, we already know that Americans like to do things in a complicated manner. It is about the weakness of the government of America. Haven't they ever heard of the so-called STATE MACHINERY? If yes, where was it? I mean, how does a ruling party lose an election?
Most Ugandans can follow what is going on with the Americans' election instantly on social media, and we can see how terribly weak these fellows are, starting with their failure to control social media itself.
What the heck was WTF (WhatsApp Twitter Facebook) doing being active when an important election is taking place? The Democrats' should have ordered a total blockage of all social media days ahead of the elections, especially when Donald Trump started whining that there was going to be rigging. That is how we do it. I mean, you can't have people tweeting away when an election is taking place. Crazy Americans!
Secondly, we Ugandans cannot understand why Barrack Obama was not standing to remain in the White House for another term. How can a boy just turning 55 years old retire before reaching the prime of his age? Retire to go and do what? Banange, some people!
Hilarious tale of President Museveni, his presidential jerrican and unreliable rains
Proof that pupils are only coached to pass exams and no actual learning goes on in schools
MPs pass law for own VIP Burials as locals wish greed makes them start committing suicide
If there were some constitutional limitations to running for office again, why didn't he change the darn constitution? Look, all of East Africa and many other African presidents have done it except Kenya and Tanzania, which are close to the ocean. It must be the heat of the Indian Ocean disturbing their heads, so leave those ones alone.
Then the American security forces were lazing around like a bunch of cowards from the start. They should have been there caning fellows who seemed to disrespect the candidate of the ruling party. The guys in uniform – it is even difficult to call them guys – seem to have left the whole important business of elections to a bunch of civilians. Reckless Americans!
Talking of the civilians in charge, where were they? For us, we expect a powerful man chairing the electoral commission to be holding everybody's attention, with journalists stalking him everywhere he goes as he prepares to declare the winner of the damn election.
Instead, this disembodied electoral commission of America has a spooky feel to it. In fact they don't have an electoral commission, so who exactly was in charge? How do you allow each state to manage its election for the big office in Washington DC?
Isn't that what causes the abomination of candidates losing even in their home village? So when America continues weakening and ceases being the world's greatest power in the next couple of decades, will they start wondering how it happened?
Anyway, thanks to the Internet and smart phones, we in Uganda have finally had the chance to see how weak the American government really is. We shall be able to tell them off next time they try to teach us how to govern our country.
