Susan Tumugumye, the Officer in Charge of Criminal Investigations Department at Ibanda Police Station, says Twijukye was picked up over the weekend for assaulting his father.

Ibanda Police are investigating circumstances under, which a suspect committed suicide in their cells. Julius Twijukye reportedly used the shirt he was dressed in to end his life. 
 
Susan Tumugumye, the Officer in Charge of Criminal Investigations Department at Ibanda Police Station, says Twijukye was picked up over the weekend for assaulting his father.
 
She however, says they were shocked to find the suspect hanging in the police cells on Monday afternoon, where he was locked up alone. Tumugumye says they are investigating to establish circumstances surrounding the suspect's death.
 
 
This is not the first time a suspect is found dead in police cells in Western Uganda.  On August 30th, 2016, Alex Mugisha, a boda boda cyclist committed suicide in custody at Mbarara Central Police station. 
 
Mugisha had been apprehended by his brothers for alleged theft of a motorcycle registration number UEE 061I.  The motorcycle belonged to one of the brothers, identified as Crispus Mugisha.  He was believed to have died as a result of torture.
