{UAH} THE EAST AFRICAN LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY, A POLITICAL DUMPING GROUND
THE EAST AFRICAN LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY, A POLITICAL DUMPING GROUND
………………………………..………………………………………………………………
This week, & today, commence a rigorous process for identification, vetting, selection and election of the EALA Members of Parliament. In the minor political groupings like the green one of the hoe, they already made theirs seemingly financed by the chief political patron. Let me make these 10 reflection areas for making EALA relevant
1. We should not make EALA MPs to be those typically rejected by us Ugandans (after failing politically).
2. We must not make the EALA a reward institution of the region
3. We must make EALA understood by the EAC member states and average citizens
4. Let the EALA MPs to be selected this popularize the different protocols ratified under the Great lakes frameworks, the EAC and the EALA itself.
5. Political organisations here must communicate meaning such that identification of EALA MPs can be based on ideology not sentiments as is the case with the defy and no defiance team along Entebbe road or cash bonaza on Plot 10 Kyadondo road
6. The EALA MPs should show cause why Uganda should any way participate in the EALA political and legislative processes
7. The need to intertwine the domestic parliaments with the EALA in terms of facilitating the regional governance. For instance, on addressing transition failures as shown in our Ugandan Citizens Manifesto 2016-2021
8. Reshape the contribution of the EALA to political growth in mother country and political organisations
9. Patronage vs relevance of EALA representations
10. What impact have the past EALA leaders had on our electoral and political governance
I thank you
