MUGANZIRWAZZA- KAZO KAWEMPE DIVISION
It is a village located in Kazo in present Kawempe Municipality. It was named after Nakazzi Muganzirwazza, The Namasole (Queen mother) to Muteesa I. The present Buganda Kingdom leadership built a commercial plaza at Katwe-Kibuye in Makindye which was also named after her. When Arabs visited Kabaka Ssuuna (Kabaka Muteesa's father) in Wamala Palace, "Gwolyokka" Kabaka Ssuuna's Preffered wife, out of his 148 wives he had, she cracked a bad joke, described the Arabs as the goods they had brought to the Kabaka as handsome! Gifts included, mirrors, guns, kanzu etc. this annoyed Ssuuna and handed his wife to the Sultan of Zanzibar in appreciation of the wonderful gifts, this punishment was much better than being sent to Bwaise (A name derived from "Bwaiise" referring the ending of life, this was the place where the most official murders were done).
After her departure from the Kingdom, Queen mother Muganzirwazza took care of the Prince until he became Kabaka of Buganda. In Zanzibar, Sultan Sayid Barghash bin Said Al- Busaid married Gwolyokka and the 2 gave birth to Khalid Bin Bargash in 1874 who also became a Sultan of Zanzibar on 25th August 1896. He died in exile on the 15th March 1927 in Mombasa at 53 years he was Muteesa I's half brother.
