{UAH} Museveni doesn’t appoint he buys opposition candidates into cabinet

Ordinarily what Mr. Museveni did to appoint opposition members into his government would show a leader who is pro-people, a true democrat and statesman and surely the opposition would appreciate this. Many other truly democratic nations do that.

But the problem with this in Uganda is that Mr. Museveni does not do this in good faith. He does not do it for the good of the country and he does not do it for the sake of true democracy. He does it to kill off the opposition, which opposition is already part of the government by the mere fact that they shape policy.

On the opposition side those appointed also do not accept in good faith but simply because they are gullible. They are opposition during day and at night they are in the same bed with those they oppose. And of course they are paid for this!

Therefore theirs is not to serve the country but themselves. Propagandist were quick to come out and portray that Mr. Museveni's action was pro-democratic but most of us have been around long enough to know him very well that his moves are only democratic as long as they push through his personal agenda.

Therefore as much as the move to appoint opposition figures into his government may seem well meant, it is completely a selfish move to politically kill off the opposition. We should never celebrate.
