NRM EALA Elections Were Marred By Bribery & Intrigue — Tanga Odoi

Tanga Odoi, the NRM Electoral Commission chairman has said that the East African Legislative Assembly elections were tainted with bribery and intrigue.

It almost became a chaotic election. Everyone is talking of one bribing another. The president told them it's dangerous for the elite," said Odoi before adding that he has never seen such an election.

"I have never seen such election, not on organizing it but I have never seen a stampede of candidates in an election of this kind. I would only compare it to graduates of the university who respond to an advert requiring two people and they are one thousand."

This website understands that NRM finally elected six candidates for the East African Legislative Assembly yesterday.

Musamali Paul emerged top with 167 votes, former Internal Affairs Minister Rose Akol garnered 139, George Odongo and Kasamba Mathias tied at 119. Two time MP and minister Mary Mugyenyi got 115 while former NRM youth chairman Dennis Namara garnered 114 votes.
