{UAH} Brigadier Noble Mayombo and 75 year upper limit for presidents!
Comrades,
Politics of intrigue serve short term interests but often are disastrous though sometimes are unknowingly helpful in the end.
According to Dr. Paul Kawanga Ssemwogerere (SaturdayVision, 23 Sept.2017), Noble Mayombo (RIP) member of the Constituent Assembly argued about age limits for presidential aspirants to curb life presidency project. In particular, the aim was to bar former president Dr. Apolo Milton Obote who was 70 years in 1995 from ever ruling Uganda as he had threatened to return from Zambia.
Brigadier Noble Mayombo may have argued to serve his master then who must have patted him on the shoulder, but as it turns out now, the beneficiary of the intrigue is now caught in the same. The same upper limit must be maintained. If President Museveni never hated Mayombo before, I am sure he is extremely annoyed with the quiet and smiling Mutoro boy, but what can he do apart from scratching the hairless head and biting his lips in annoyance cursing the ever smiling smart boy.
Mayombo may have maliciously/accidentally argued and won the 75 year upper limit, but like many scientific discoveries like X-Rays discovery, his was and remains a good accident. Brigadier Mayombo may be physically gone but he is much alive today especially when the whole country is engaged in discussing his contribution; and what he did then will surely save us from the life presidency project. Mayombo remains alive in Uganda's history. I am proud of my Mutoro omuko. Rest in peace Omuko Akiiki!
Which brings me to ask all of us here, how will your community or country remember you? Do something to serve your country even when you are long gone to the next life.
