{UAH} MY OPEN LETTER TO BUSOGA CRITIQUES

MY OPEN LETTER TO BUSOGA CRITIQUES
Dear Critics of Busoga,
I've always taken great refuge in the words of Mr. Emerson. These words I find especially comforting in the face of the enormous amount of criticism hurled in the direction of Busoga. I used to be very silent about the criticism and tended not to be hurt by them. Anyone who criticized me got a response, and usually not a nice one. Now I realize the value of criticism and I like this quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson that states that "When your critics stop criticizing you, you have ceased to become effective."

Just as the saying goes in advertising circles, "there's no such thing as bad publicity" I'll amend that to say "there's no such thing as bad criticism." Either constructive or meant to harm, I welcome any and all criticism. By being criticized, I am making someone think, I am making someone spell out their beliefs as opposed to mine. That's progress. That's being effective.
Critics can wield a lot of power over us. Often being criticized makes us change our ways. It can make us unsure of the path we have been on, and force us to rethink our decisions and actions. Sometimes this can be a good thing. Some critics have actually helped me and you avoid making mistakes. But, often criticism hurts us so deeply and we stop doing anything at all. The moment we fear criticism is when it becomes dangerous. Better to embrace the criticism and weigh it against our knowledge of the situation than to be paralyzed by it.
To that end, I'd like to say thanks to all critics and those who have been tirelessly critiquing whatever is happening in Busoga and I mean the likes of Gashumba (Uncle Nabukeera), Erias Lukwago, fellow Busoga and Basoga critics who have spent sleepless nights on face book and whatsapp either critiquing or abusing those in support of the king taking the ambassadorial post. It's partly all your criticisms that help keep me as a Musoga going. You've certainly made me more aware of the saying that the more the monkey climbs up the tree, the more its nakedness is watched by the people down the tree. So, I suppose I owe Kyabazinga critics some manner of response for all they have published allover social media.
You say we have jiggers, you say we take long to understand, you say we are poor and you state a lot of controversies in your press statements that you submitted to your face book followers to read and enjoy how SISIMUKA Uganda is achieving success by always turning guns on issues that I think do not concern you Mr. Gashumba. Some of you critiques even came up with financial proposals that the kingdom should use as if you got information that the appointment was made because the Kyabazinga was looking for a job or else he was broke, I love all your recommendations and suggestions but why make decisions in a house you don't manage or head? Should we say some of you are "importanter" than anyone else in this country and it's the reason you always want to say something about whatever happens or you were born critics?
So continue to criticize us, please. It helps us to know that we've made you mad. It helps us to know that we've made you think. It helps me to know that we are doing great works in this country as you cited some in your press statement where you were poking your nose in Busoga issues
But realize, your criticism, whether it comes in the form of a threat, ridicule, lies or hateful words, will not stop us Basoga from being the good, educated, intelligent and hardworking people we are. No amount of criticism will destroy our kingdom.

PROUD MUSOGA
