The NRM constitution vs the CA 1995 constitution my honest view :
O'BuaKol TERAH Terence, Kole North UPC parliamentary candidate 2016.
Elections are always hotly contested and process and results unpredictable, but the 2016 parliamentary and presidential elections were exceptional, yet again Uganda is still trying to come to terms with what transpired in parliament last week, when the constitution was forcefully heartlessly amended by the NRM majority in the house, unlike the constituent Assembly which made the 1995 constitution which was representative of Uganda.
The following incidents which happened in parliament cannot be ignored
1,The drama leading to the first reading, when the special forces commandoes raided parliament beating up MPs and badly injuring them
2,The speaker giving mixed signals over the same issue a of Nakifuma MP,she opted for a a constitutional Review
3,The committee smuggled issues like extension from 5-7 years
4,The conduct of debate on the floor of of parliament, was wanting, some members were suspended, the bill was not tabled to clerk, but "ipaded" to members, lastly the proceedings uncharacteristically went close to midnight
I salute the 103 MPs who stood for true democracy amidst threats brutality and intimidations, you really represented the silent majority.
For staters the amendment was done in a very un transparent fraudulent manner in my view and the chorus of disapproval from the public across the country sums it all even when the rapists could not heed to our wailings and helpless protests.
The number of our legislators and particularly women representatives on affirmative action need to be revisited sooner than latter.
Here am going to dwell on the basics and generalities Just for debate.
The bill was is un popular by its design motive and purpose, the reason it was decided passed by only 300 MPs,late in the night,on behalf millions by those who were elected by the people but not necessarily by majority, few of these MPs got 50% of the votes in their respective constituencies thus cannot be deemed to carry majority voice ,but they are legitimately elected representatives of their people as by our constitution.
It is also clear unlike other genuine precolonial parties that NRM cannot survive without its funder and founder YK Museveni.
There was no fairness in the whole process with each MPs pocketing 29m Ugx,for the immoral one man project dubbed consultations, truth be told the parliament of the republic of Uganda is not independent as by the 1995 constitution, rather its a Nrm house an extension of State House, heavily infused influenced by the executive and directed by HE the President, flash back ,how the speaker and the deputy speaker were elected, with the President's physical presence and supervision giving the final verdict, almost everything done in this parliament in matters of regime consolidation passes with the ease of eating a pawpaw slice, that said,we always blame our MPs and rightly so because they don't take people's view once they are in the august house, the people deserve their leaders as the saying goes.
In my view the voters have to take some responsibilities a case in the Lango subregion, which I want to present as a study for this argument,a good number of them had queries in their elections.
All NRM MPs except one voted YES on Wednesday and extended their term by two more years, whether there is a scientific justification of any value addition to their decision to me ,my 75 year old mother is yet to be proved.
The cardinal penetrative questions here are ,why should we expect NRM MPs to vote against their master and chief sponsor? Can we expect to sow red pepper and reap tomatoes ? as put stated by one my friends in parliament.
The Point is we cannot cry foul when we ourselves have surrendered our birth right and heritage to alien unfriendly forces in the name of NRM, aware of their blatant detriments meted against this nation. Why is NRM gaining ground in the traditional opposition territory since 2011?
On a very positive note I want to thank all Ugandans for the resolve and unity they demonstrated in the anti Uganda bill, and to be stronger in the next and final hurdle ,the President's Land bill, commonly known as land amendment bill.
I therefore call upon all Ugandans my kinsmen inclusive,to look deep and straight into the future to a Uganda where its citizens own and benefit from their resources, where our children go to learn and get skills for life, not irrelevant certifications, where all citizens have access to medical care they deserve, where we own our economy ,Nationalists, this is the Uganda we we desire to be.. Particular thanks go to all MPs who defied all odds as nationalists defenders of our constitution voted NO on the amendment of the infamous bill,my party President hon Jimmy Akena,Hon Norbert Mao,Hon Odur Jonathan,Hon Bobie Wine and many others, Merry Christmas and happy prosperous 2018 and beyond for God and my country #terahO
