The trinity; Nyerere, Machel, and Kaunda, were instrumental in leading the 15 year struggle against colonialism in Zimbabwe. By 1979, with the help of mainly Libya, Cuba, North Korea, Somalia, Ethiopia, the Soviet Union, the Peoples Republic of China, and a handfull of other nations, the colonialist were forced to retreat into Apartheid South Africa and South West Africa (colonial Namibia).
Samora Machel once suggested that "International solidarity is not an act of charity: It is an act of unity between allies fighting on different terrains toward the same objective. The foremost of these objectives is to aid the development of humanity to the highest level possible" The case of Zimbabwe's struggle for liberation is a clear testament to what African unity and international solidarity can achieve in the path of freedom, justice, and humanity! Salute to all our heroes, those alive and those no longer with us, those we remember, and those forgotten.
Africa has such a rich history lam truly proud to be African. I miss all the Great Leaders that united with a common purpose to break the chains of Colonialism, wishing President Kaunda a speedy recovery
