Government spokesman Ofwono Opondo has said that while Gen. Kale Kayihura brought Uganda Police from very far, a number of instances stood in his way and hence a bad ending for him. Adding that ''even the best dancer misses a step''
Ofwono said that Kayihura was a disciplined and focused officer who would not cause trouble. Ofwono also said that Kayihura had made some mistakes like his constant reshuffles of police officers which were unwarranted.
President Museveni sacked Kayihura as Inspector General of Police in tweet on Sunday evening He was replaced by Okoth Ochola. Brig Sabiiti Muzeeyi the former commandant of the Military Police was named deputy IGP. Kayihura was the longest serving IGP having taken over in 2005.
''By the time the President Museveni takes disciplinary action against you, it means he's given you many to chances. By the time the president came out publicly after the death of AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi, he must have sat with Kayihura privately to caution him about the Uganda Police.'' Ofwono Opondo said.
He added: While Kayihura has done a good job, I think it was time for him. The end has been a bad one, but the 12 years and a half have been good. I really think that these changes were meant for good. In terms of professionalization, Kale has brought Uganda Police from very far but along the way he met challenges.
Ofwono Opondo made the remarks on NBS tv morning Breeze Show on Monday morning.

Mr. Ofwono revealed that President Museveni is a very patient person, he's been very patient with all of us he appoints. He believes more in concentrating on the strengths of the people he works with
Mr. Opondo revealed that Gen Kale Kayihura is still a serving army officer and will be accommodated with the UPDF. Ofwono said: "He is going to the administration of the UPDF. He is a serving army officer."
