PRESIDENT MEETING KATIKKIRO
Fellow countrymen and countrywomen, a few days back the President and
the Kabaka met over implementation of an MOU the President and the
Kabaka signed in 2013..
l am, in principle, in support of the MOU except where it comes to
masaza and magombolola estates, the land earmarked by Buganda
Agreement of 1900, for local administrations services.
Such estates which are neither traditional nor cultural should have
been vested in Buganda Government, as it was the case in 1900, and it
is high time a Buganda Government was restored in accordance with the
provisions of the constitution.
Land evictions especially in former crown land and now public
land/akenda in greater Masaka, Mubende, Luwero, Mpigi, Mukono is on
increase with impunity.
Tonight, if it is the will of God, from 7.00 to 9.00 pm, l shall be on
Radio Sapienser's Mulongoti talk show.
The other item is the allaged attempt by KCCA Act amendment bill
attempting to disemphrachise the citizens of Kampala, Wakiso, Mpigi
and Mukono by stopping direct election of Kampala Lord Mayor and
District chairpersons and replaced by a ceremonial Lord Mayor elected
by the council acting as an electoral college, and minister
responsible for Kampala, assumes executive power of the Lord Mayor and
the district chairpersons.
