WADRI TO FDC: DISCIPLINE BESIGYE BEFORE MUNTU
Arua Municipality Member of Parliament Kasiano Wadri has asked FDC to discipline former party president Col Kiiza Besigye before they talk of disciplining Gen. Mugisha Muntu and Paul Mwiru.
Muntu and Mwiru irked the opposition party leadership when they chose to campaign for Hon Wadri for the Arua seat, and not the FDC candidate Bruce Musema.
The party leadership last month threatened to take disciplinary action against the two.
Commenting on these threats shortly after taking oath at parliament, Wadri said that even though it's against the party constitution to support independents, a precedent had already been set by Col Kiiza Besigye who supported non- party members in Makindye west and Kawempe North.
Wadri says if the party wants equity they should first discipline Besigye.
"We must look at the past happenings; we had flag bearers who were fought by the party, so it wasn't the first of its kind. Let them first bring those people and arraign them to the Party Disciplinary Committee before they begin thinking about Mugisha Muntu," Wadri said.
He added, "If you want justice, then you should be seen delivering justice; start with those who started it before you come for Muntu, if you don't do that, then we will know you are playing double standards and the public will know them."
Wadri also faulted FDC for watering this problem, having refused to hold party primaries and opting to handpick flag bearers.
"To contest as an independent was a very painful decision. There were seven candidates who had shown interest within the party and we all demanded for primaries but the party denied us the opportunity to hold primaries and yet in the constitution, there is no provision that if you are elected a flag bearer, you serve for five years."
