A journalist who reported corrupt Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) to President Museveni has been rewarded with a Friesian cow.

Mr Shamil Byakika, a political talk show host at Busoga-based NBS radio, last month, during a press conference at State House, Entebbe, told President Museveni that some RDCs in Busoga sub-region were behind the people who were grabbing residents' land.
Substantiating his allegations, Mr Byakika cited the land wrangle at Buwekula in Mafubira Sub-county, a revelation that drew Mr Museveni's attention.

During the press conference that was televised live, Mr Museveni took Mr Byakika's telephone contact and the two are believed to have later talked at length.
On Tuesday, Mr Byakika was all smiles when he was given a Friesian calf, part of what the President gave Iganga District Councilors in fulfillment of a pledge he made during his tour in the region in 2011.

Mr Byakika received the cow from the Iganga District Coordinator Operation Wealth Creation (OWC), Maj David Bazalaki, at the District headquarters.
"I am happy for this cow which is going to improve on my livelihood," Mr Byakika told reporters, adding that he was excited to rear a cow at his ancestral home in Bukona Village, Nakalama Sub-county in Iganga District.
