{UAH} Ocen/Pojim/Allan et al: DP Ruto's office seeks 2 aircraft in new tender

Ocen and Pojim;

WSR fully well knows that 1bn has been chopped from his DP budgetary allocation, in hind sight; he is to most likely to "hire" his "own fixed wing & or choppers" (as though they are Moses Kuria's etc. :) ) and keep the kitty growing for opposing the referendum and 2022 election campaigns!

- Interested bidders have been urged to obtain the tender documents at a fee of KSh 1,000
- Amid criticism over the tender invite, Ruto's office defended the move on several grounds

Deputy President William Ruto's office has invited tenders for air charter services for two planes even as the question of the country's national expenditure continues to be a hot center of controversy.

Bidders will have to follow a strict criteria including having a valid Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA).

The DP's office is targeting a helicopter and a fixed wing air craft.
"Interested service providers who are registered in relevant trades and categories (proof of registration required) may obtain tender documents from Harambee House Annex 1st Floor, room 1B12/13, in person or against written application," the notice read.

The tender notice came only two weeks after the contentious Finance Bill was controversially signed by legislators which ultimately meant Kenyans would have to dig deeper in their pockets to try cover the government's humongous financial deficit.

Even as the source and depth of the DP's wealth has always been a subject of interest among Kenyans, the Ruto has in the recent past refuted claims of owning a chopper.

One of the major reasons for intending to hire the two aircraft was to enable state officers to access areas which cannot be accessed by national flights such as Kenya Airways, especially on a consistent basis.

The question of security also came into focus as the government continues to grow more reluctant to have government officials travel in police aircraft for fear of attacks.

The cost of hiring a helicopter ranges from KSh 150,000 to KSh 170,000 per hour whilst a fixed wing aircraft's rates could be as high as KSh 500,000 for an hour.
