- Uhuru's fight against corruption has seen top government officials prosecuted and Kalenjin CEOs have dominate the probe list

- Several leaders from the Kalenjin community have come out guns blazing claiming the purge is not genuine and is aimed at labeling their tribesmen corrupt

- Kenyans, however, defended investigative agencies, arguing every elected or appointed leader should be accountable for their actions

Recent remarks by leaders claiming the graft war is wrongfully targeting the Kalenjin community have left Kenyans bitter and disturbed.

Through a viral Twitter hashtag dubbed MtuWetuNonsense, concerned citizens expressed their displeasure in what they termed as retrogressive and tribal thinking.

This emerges amid claims from some leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto, like Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei, who have continued to lash out at the DPP claiming he was being used to frustrate Kalenjins.

Cherargei remarked on Saturday, December 8, that the anti graft purge was only but a strategy to cut short Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.

The lawmaker was responding to recent developments where several CEOs and other senior government employees hailing from the Kalenjin community have been linked to corrupt deals.

The corruption dealings have since seen the taxpayers lose hundreds of billions to fraudsters. In disappointment, Kenyans questioned Cherargei's thinking and also sought to know whether the alleged graft chiefs shared the loot with him to earn them his defence.

Some sought to know why leaders dragged their communities along when the integrity of tribesmen was being probed.

A tweep identified as Missing Link, was emphatic that the tribal ideology of defending graft lords was uncalled for adding that it was an impediment in fighting corruption.
"Hii story ya mtu wetu (this tribal ideology) is being targeted is the kind of nonsense that will weaken the fight on corruption. When they made the decision to steal public money you were not there and neither did you benefit," Link twiter

A Twitter user by the name Keroro maintained that the Nandi senator and other leaders who shared in his ideas were a bad example to the community. Agitated Keroro said such people needed to be charged then locked up in prisons for giving misleading remarks capable of resulting into ethnic animosity.
"People like this one here should be hunted down and locked up in prison for misleading the public. The positions on the spotlight were literally handed to a single community. How is that a witch hunt again?" the tweet read.

On Tuesday, December 12, it came to the fore that some the suspects linked to the NHIF scandal, a Kalenjin included, enjoyed lavish lives.

The suspects are said to own lavish apartments and also traveled to the office aboard helicopters in what is believed to be a move to avoid heavy traffic in Nairobi.

Responding to this development, Omooria Nyakeri wondered how some politicians managed to defend people who allegedly have defrauded public coffers to live a glamorous life while taxpayers wadded in abject poverty.
"When am struggling with the rains to get to my work place someone who has stolen our money is flying high. Then you are there shouting that your community is being targeted," stated Nyakeri.
