{UAH} WEEK ENDS WELL FOR THE OPPOSITION

WEEK ENDS WELL FOR THE OPPOSITION

It has been an eventful week. Apart from the women's day scuffle in Amolatar, the LOP thanksgiving in Gulu was an impressive show and uninterrupted by the usual suspects. The People's Government is intensifying contact with the people, far away from the centre.

People Power was in Mityana for the Hon. Zaake thanksgiving where the Hon Kyagulanyi declaration, first published by the Daily Monitor, was cemented. It was nice to see Hon Kassiano Wadri in whose territory People Power was brutally attacked, Yasin Kawuma killed and its leaders and Kasiano campaigners detained in distant Gulu, endorsing Kyagulanyi's candidature.

The Kyagulanyi announcement was not surprising, but the timing was guerilla like. For now, it is NRM and People Power that have expressed concrete interest with known candidates. Even after the announcement, PP refuses to bend to pressure to unveil its leadership structure. We may have to wait for some more days? Or even more?

Because the People's government's plan is to overthrow Museveni before the next election, we may not hear anything about their presidential bid in a while?

The week ended with an informal ceasefire
between Besigye and Kyagulanyi social media activists arising of a general agreement that incessant intra-opposition crossfire benefits the adversary more.

With all the good news, I tend to think that the 2021 elections are more probable than certain.

And this Rwanda-Uganda standoff might be allowed to escalate (in a controlled manner though) to provide the best excuse for Museveni to avoid a clearly difficult election, as a state of emergency would be plausible.

A great week ahead, all change agents.
