{UAH} CONGS CRANES

This is a historic day for Ugandan football. 41 years without a single victory in the African Cup of Nations finals has ended. The curse is now really off. It was brought by the ideology of neglecting sports for over four decades. Clearly Uganda can do much better than we think. Compared to 41 years ago, the whole country was celebrating the national team reaching the final game of this tournament and emerging second on the continent. Therefore the end to the long walk is near. The ultimate African victory is within visible reach. They are almost there. So we encourage their progress once again. One game at a time. Nothing unites a nation like sports. Congratulations to all those who never lost hope in national sports despite the lack of political will and the lack of support. This is also their effort. And congratulations to Uganda Cranes. Remember that you stand on the shoulders of those giants who raised the barrier for Uganda in AFCON. President Idi Amin set the standard that remains unbeaten by subsequent generations of young Ugandans.  But by staying strong, fit, vigilant and determined in a common purpose, you can surpass yourselves and do even better, and from there the sky is the limit!
