{UAH} HOW CAN WE LEGALLY FIND OUT WHO THE FATHER OF A CHILD IS?
HOW CAN WE LEGALLY FIND OUT WHO THE FATHER OF A CHILD IS?
Recently in parliament, a female MP raised a "very important concern". She said for her she feared to debate in Parliament because Golola Moses of Uganda was in the audience. Her main fear was that he might stare at them, and they become pregnant, and very soon, we would have so so so many Baby Gololas. The Speaker assured them that in order to avoid getting pregnant with Baby Gololas, they should not stare at him.
As we LOL, and HEHEHE at the MP's comments, we should ask ourselves "what if"
What if Golola Moses could stare at women, and get them pregnant, would he still be considered the father of those children, and would he be made to look after them?
1. Who is considered a father of the children?
Under Ugandan laws, a father is the biological or adoptive parent of a child, this means, even a sperm donor could, in some cases, be considered the biological father of a child.
2. What kind of proof does one need to show that someone is the father?
There are a number of ways including;
a) DNA (like that one we see on local TV where they take blood samples and other things) This is the most concrete form of proof admissible in court on proof of parenthood
b) Love letters (like letters from our 'Golola' to a lady MP about that wonderful night they had and we hope you know now that these days even social media communication can be used)
c) Other evidence can be even photos, or documents saying one is the father or even the child looking like you!!!!
3. What responsibilities does a father have to the mother, and to the children?
To the mother- provide child support for all things like clothes (pampers are clothes too), food, education, health care).
To the child, a father should let the child know that he is the father, providing a home as well as the above.
