IS TELLING A WOMAN SHE IS CURVY, SEXY AND A GOOD TOURIST ATTRACTION SEXUAL HARRASMENT?

In Feb 2019, the Ministry of Tourism added sexy, curvy Ugandan women to the list of tourism products as a means to attract more tourists into the country. The minister was quoted saying that Uganda has naturally endowed nice looking women that are amazing to look at.

On reading this in the newspaper, Mr Kintu felt compelled to unleash his true feelings towards one of his employees. He started telling his employee Sarah how sexy and curvy she is and that indeed she is a tourist attraction as she has been attracting him from the very day she walked into his office. This has started making Sarah very uncomfortable and she cannot even concentrate at work.

DOES THIS AMOUNT TO SEXUAL HARRASMENT?

Legally, sexual harassment is any verbal or physical abuse, or behaviour that unreasonably interferes with work or creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive work environment.

Mr Kintu's comments made Sarah feel uncomfortable and unable to properly concentrate at work. His remarks would therefore be considered inappropriate and amounting to sexual harassment in the eyes of the law.
