{UAH} WHAT IS A NATIONAL ID?
WHAT IS A NATIONAL ID?
It is a document issued by the government of a country to its citizens so that they can use it as a means of confirming their identity. In Uganda, National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) issues National IDs on behalf of the government.
The law in Uganda requires a citizen to carry an ID (or a copy) as a means of confirming their identity where the need arises such as at night or you may be arrested for being idle and (possibly) disorderly.
WHAT HAPPENS TO A PERSONS NATIONAL ID ONCE THEY DIE?
When someone dies, the law says that the person's ID expires and has not use before the law. Therefore, when a person dies, the family members of the deceased are required to inform NIRA of the death and get a death certificate. Once this is done, that is when the ID is cancelled in the system.
