{UAH} INCLUSIVENESS IN NATIONAL CORVID-19 RESPONSE STRATEGY.
As I was preparing for futaari (breaking of the fast), it dawned on me that our mainstream media has to stop being insensitive to the plight of the people of Uganda. Why air dumb, non-essential programs when Ugandans are suffering from hunger, medics are at the frontlines of the pandemic risking their lives to save the country from a deadly virus, the countries workers do not know if they will still have a job, mothers are suffering to get to clinics to give birth, children have nothing to eat, our neighbours are facing calamity, our ladies are being infected by truck drivers, our politicians are eating the food of the vulnerable poor, and entrepreneurs are looking for any information that will help them solve their increasing financial woes?
It is as if certain radio & TV stations are mocking the suffering of the people of this country. I am not one to criticize will thout bringing tangible solutions.
Wouldn't Ugandans want to watch for example a public debate between Dr. Kizza Besigye versus Dr. Jane Aceng?
These are two medical doctors. Two policy experts who have convergent and diverging opinions on certain critical aspects of the countries Corvid-19 national response, it's successes, challenges and weaknesses.
Where this whole pandemic saga is going is what we all need a technical assessment about. Including what to expect on the medical, economic and political perspective in the mid and long term.
Let us agree that it is only by being inclusive of all opinions that policy improvements and better accountability can be made.
So unless we are focusing on partisan political wrangles and media censorship, tell me which Ugandans would not want to watch Dr. Besigye Vs Dr. Aceng live on all radio & TV stations at 8pm?
