SEX WORKERS, SOME HALF NAKED STORM SOROTI DISTRICT OFFICES

Sex workers  in Soroti stormed the district offices in an appeal to meet the district vice chairman.

These people claim they are starving and need help. Ever since the truck drivers started testing positive for the covid 19, these sex workers are not permitted to transact any of their business with these people.

They stormed the office of the chairman and demanded to meet the vice chairman Simon Peter Edoru demanding for food relief as they have nothing to eat. They were a group of around 30 of which some were half naked.

They accuse the Soroti district covid 19 task force of not bothering to support them in this period with food and other relief items needed. They later met the chairman an aired out their grievances. The chairman appealed them to calm down and promised to support them with food. He claimed the problem has always been finding out their real location but now since they came to him, that is almost sorted.

They vowed to defy the state directives on interacting with these truck drivers incase they didn't receive any kind of support in due time.

"We are currently left with nothing to eat and our children are becoming malnourished. Give us food or else, we shall go after our caring clients that are willing to help instead of starving to death," one of the women told journalists.

"We have been surviving in the streets without bothering anybody over food but now that there's lock down, we cannot die of starvation waiting for government food that we are not sure of when it will come," another sex worker added.

"I would love you to calm down as we discuss this matter with the task force. The challenge we have been having is to get your proper location but now that you have come we can get in touch with you at any time," he said.

This comes at a point when the disease has started eating up East Africa and even our dear Uganda now with over 114 confirmed cases now. The country had seemed to fight the disease in the earlier stages but it seems these efforts are being shattered down by truck drivers. The President thinks it is suicide to completely stop the trucks entering the country as the economy will most likely fall a great deal.

 Pray for Uganda and try to keep social distance as well as sanitizing frequently to control the spread of this virus.
