{UAH} health benefits of African tulip tree

Scientific name:Spathodea campanulata
English name: African tulip tree
Local names:ekifabakazi(Luganda/Runyankole), Omunyara (Runyoro/Rutooro), Munalisa (Lusoga)

Medicinal uses:

1. Treatment of epilepsy. About 500 g of fresh stem bark.
1 glassful of water is added regularly while crushing the elements into a paste, and the juice is extracted mechanically by pressure. The juice is then instilled, 2 mL each nostril twice a day during 2 weeks of treatment if crises are frequent and violent, and once a day thereafter.
2. Skin rashes. The leaves and bark decoction is used to cure rashes and inflamed skin.
3. Wounds. Apply the flowers directly on wounds.
4. Leaves infusion is used for urethral infections.
5. Apply the fresh inner bark and Flowers to oozing ulcers.
6. The stem bark helps to lower the levels of blood sugar.
7. Extracts of leaves, bark and roots is used to treat malaria and HIV.
8. The decoction made from bark is used for constipation, dysentery and gastrointestinal problems.
9.It is used for kidney diseases.
10.The fluid from immature flower bud is used to cure glaucoma .
11. Chew the bark and spray over swollen cheeks.
12. Boil the bark in water and use it for bathing newly born babies to treat body rashes.
13. The barks are boiled and used for increasing vaginal fluids and increases the rate of becoming pregnant.
