{UAH} WHY YOU NEED A WRITTEN MANIFESTO IN THESE CAMPAIGNS
WHY YOU NEED A WRITTEN MANIFESTO IN THESE CAMPAIGNS.
With Uganda's digital campaign amidst an improving literacy rate, the use and distribution of written political manifestos will play a bigger role in garnering support than any other previous campaigns and elections. In the landscape of online campaigns, written material does great in aligning the potential voters to a consistent campaign terrain. With the new form of campaigns in Uganda for the 2020/2021 elections, written manifestos will have the capacity to cause more than 37.39 % of your vote.
Political manifestos often morph into an intellectual and ideological exercise at best. They are a legal contract enshrining a candidate's purported development agenda. For the health of democracy, manifestos are a tool that ensures accountability and demand for service. In short it is one way to make the electorate trust you and feel secure.
Electoral manifestos play a crucial role in presenting the visions of candidates in a democracy as a compendium of valid positions on varied issues of importance to the country and to the electorate. They delimit issues and present a larger framework as campaign material. The power of written words carries more authority than unwritten, vague, oral promises.
Manifestos do constitute the major indirect influence on what candidates are seen standing for because they form the basis of comment in the mass media and provide the cues for questions raised at all levels, as well as staple issues for their campaigns. Manifestos, thus aim for indirect effects, at least, as much as for direct ones.
A manifesto can: provide a compendium of your position, establish supremacy over all your opponent's policy positions and thereby streamline your campaign, and use as a campaign tool to directly inform your voters.
This manifesto and the good things it gives you cannot be gotten unless it is written.
